5 Tips to Be Stressed-Free Before the Wedding

This is not a beauty article per se, but for you to be stress-free at your wedding - and hence beautiful - you must take off stress from your life before your big event. So, be stress-free and beautiful!

Your wedding day is one of the biggest days of your life. He proposed at the most spectacular place you could have ever imagined and gave you the oval shaped ring of your dreams. Now you are ready to start thinking about your wedding! After months of planning, this one day remains as the moment the two of you officially become a unified couple—by legal standards, at least! Getting to that big day, however, means lots of planning. If you’ve decided for a traditional wedding, then you’re likely juggling multiple vendors as well as counting RSVPs (or preparing to send invites!).

While your wedding day is an amazing day filled with lots of excitement and memories, the planning part isn’t always so much fun. Let’s be real, dealing with all those details can be excruciatingly stressful. Feeling overwhelmed is normal, but don’t let the details take the spotlight off of the main event. YOU’RE GETTING MARRIED… TO YOUR TRUE LOVE!

Love is the main point of this day…and sometimes when we’re debating which flowers to add to bouquets or what band should play at the reception, the love kind of takes a back seat. If, right about now, you’re thinking that eloping in Vegas sounds pretty good, you might need a vacation from wedding planning (unless, of course, Vegas is your dream…then do it!).

Need to unwind after a day of hunting for a venue, smelling the roses or tasting cake? Here are a few relaxing tricks to take your mind off of wedding planning:

Take a Staycation

While taking a vacation during your engagement may cut into your honeymoon budget, there are many ideas for local ‘staycations.’ Head to a bed and breakfast for a night with the fiancé. Or take a day trip to a local museum or theme park (screaming on a roller coaster is an awesome stress reliever!).  You may just get in the car and drive through the country for a bit of fresh air.

Focus on Your Health

Good health is essential to feeling our best. And, let’s face it, stress can zap your energy. Focus on eating good foods that nurture and feed the body. Get up and move… if you can be active, then go for a workout or take a walk. Cut out caffeinated beverages and replace them with healthier and more hydrating options to keep skin looking its best.

Smell the Roses

Some fragrances just lift our spirits. If you’re feeling stressed, try using lavender oil to ease your body into a sense of calm. Jasmine and chamomile also offer similar benefits. If you really want an olfactory boost, though, try citrus oils… the zest will wake you up! Use scented bath products to perk up a warm bath… or light a scented candle to fill the air.

Find Your Calm

Meditation also can help you find balance. And, no, you don’t have to take a class to learn how to meditate. There are many resources online, or you can just wing it by sitting quietly and focusing on your breath as you inhale and exhale. The purpose is to clear the mind and lighten the body from stress.

Spa Day!

Of course, one of the best ways to relax is to head to the spa. Schedule a massage and a facial. Or, if you’re on a budget, just get your nails painted. Take time for you and if you can treat yourself… then do it!

Wedding planning can be incredibly stressful, especially when you have to balance so many vendors. However, don’t let the planning stress you out to the point of not enjoying the experience. You’re about to marry your true love… and this is going to be one of the happiest days of your life. Focus on what this day means, and try not to let the details take precedent over the meaning of the moment. And, if the planning is overwhelming you, take some time to clear your head and unwind!
