I like for jewelry to tell a story and to be able to talk about what I’m wearing. That’s more important to me than a name, brand, or label. –Nikki Reed.
Do you ever think about the charm bracelet you touch every time you are feeling a little down, because your best friend gave it to you before moving away to another town? Or the pendant you put on every time you feel that you could use some luck— at a job interview, or at an important meeting, even at a date? Or the ring you never take off, even when you step in the shower, because it was a present from your significant other and you like to be constantly reminded of their existence in your life? Or the pair of gold earrings you’ve been wearing for the past five years because it was the first expensive present you bought for yourself?
Jewelry is not always just another reason for you to show off; the jewelry you choose to flaunt— whether on a daily basis or at special occasions— often says a lot about what means the most to you, your outlook in life, your personality, and your sense of style.
For example, this quote by Sofia Boutella, a French-Algerian dancer, explains a lot about what jewelry can mean to the one wearing it:
“When I was little, I went to the Sahara desert and met an older woman with beautiful earrings that came all the way down to her stomach. She told me, ‘For us Tuareg, jewelry is not meant for decoration. It absorbs negative energy that comes your way.’ So think twice when you buy a vintage ring!”
Dangly earrings, studs, hoops, drops, chandeliers, ear cuffs, tassel earrings… there are so many kinds of earrings and you can never seem to have enough. Some people choose to get a number of ear piercings, while most believe the basic ‘one piercing in each ear’ suffices, and that tells you a lot about their style personality.
When it comes to necklaces, you can be fond of chains with pendants, statement pieces, or chokers. The different kinds of bracelets you choose to adorn your wrist with can range from bangles, charms, rope or mesh. People are often seen to be more particular about their choice of rings than they are about the other pieces of jewelry they wear; perhaps because rings can often carry more meaning, as they can often be wedding or engagement rings or anniversary presents. Rings cam be either large or small, bands or the ones with stone(s).
What you wear tells the most about you than anything else ever does. Do you ever wonder how you are perceived for the selection of jewelry you wear, and the role it plays in depicting your personal style?
There are four style personalities that you can belong to, keep reading to find out yours.
This style means that you like to be casual and down to earth, love comfort and easy to care for attire. Which also probably means that you will not be spotted flaunting expensive gold or diamond jewelry. You might be seen in simple silver ear hoops or classic, dainty silver studs, and a simple, one-stone ring or band.
This means that you are organized, practical, and prefer to fill your wardrobe with versatile investment pieces. You like to look all prim and proper. You do not go about buying and wearing every bit of jewelry you can get your hands on. Rather, a pair of pearl studs, a classy, plain gold chain bracelet, and perhaps a single-strand choker necklace.
Whimsical means you are all about quirky, fun details, and this personality style is reflected in your jewelry style. You know how to have a good time, and so does your jewelry. You probably like septum nose pins, funky, loaded charm bracelets and pendant necklaces with little elephants, unicorns, tea cups, etc. You are creative, artsy, and it shows!
You are bold and like to stand out in a crowd. You want your jewelry to make a statement. So you will often be seen wearing mismatched earrings, and chunky, oversized jewelry that makes you look as dazzling and brilliant as you are on the inside. You have an overpowering personality; your jewelry does the talking and so do you.
It is not necessary that you fall into one of the four styles mentioned above. Jewelry is a beautiful way to express yourself and the things that you believe in, so let nothing hold you back when it comes to choosing what to wear.
If you want to pair simple studs with a loud, chunky choker, you do that. Stick with whatever expresses your best self and makes you feel comfortable and original.
