H&M Advertises Computer-Generated Models With Real Model Heads

Our dear friends, you shouldn’t feel bad about how your body looks. Of course we always try to respect ourselves and adhere to some beauty standards because we sanse it as the next step in our evolution as persons. The media and the fashion world presents us the standards and we try to keep diets and make surgical procedures only to improve our self-esteem.

But what if the “rulers” themselves acknowledges that their standards cannot be implemented in the real world? What if the images we see around us are not even real?

Now comes the bomb: H&M uses in their advertisements computer-generated models (It’s all over Google). The company’s press officer Hacan Andersson told Aftonbladet, “It’s not a real body, it is completely virtual and made the computer. We take pictures of the clothes on a doll [mannequin] that stands in the shop, and then create the human appearance with a program on your computer.”

Look at the pictures below and let’s speculate which one is real!

Another official quote: “It’s not about ideals or to show off a perfect body, we are doing this to show off the garments… This is done for all garments, not just underwear, it applies to both women’s and men’s clothing.” – H&M Spokesperson Håcan Andersson

Ok, I admit, there were only for promotion purposes, but what about our grey thoughts about our bodies that don’t look like their models’s? I think it’s not fair, don’t you?

I remember the following ad for Dove, great one:
